Zettersfeld Ski Area: Slopes and Sunsite Park

The south-facing Zettersfeld ski area has predominantly family-friendly slopes. It has been awarded the “Certified Tyrolean Family Ski Region” designation; this designation may change. The Sunsite Park offers space for snowboarders and freeriders. This describes the different focuses of the winter offerings: the predominantly family-friendly slopes and a park for boarders and freeriders. When planning, you can consider which of these is most important to your travel group.

Hikes to Steinermandl and the Neualpl Lakes

The “Steinermandl via Rotmannalm” route starts at the mountain station of the Zettersfeld cable car and leads to Steinermandl at an elevation of 2,213 m. It is 5.5 km long; trail conditions may vary seasonally. These details give you a clear idea of the route’s length and destination without specifying a hiking time.

The hike to the natural gems of the Neualpl Lakes starts at the mountain station of the Steinermandl 4-seater chairlift. The well-marked trail leads towards Hohe Tauern National Park. After a short descent of about 20 metres, it continues across flat alpine pastures to the lakes. Another hike from this mountain station leads past the Neualpl Lakes and across rough boulder terrain to the southern summit ridge and the summit cross. It is suitable only for experienced hikers. The sections of the route therefore differ not only in their destination, but also in terrain and difficulty.

Alpine Scenery and Views

Above the tree line, broad alpine pastures and flowering mountain meadows stretch across Zettersfeld at an elevation of around 1,800 m. The hiking area extends into Hohe Tauern National Park up to an elevation of 2,278 m. These elevations describe different points of reference: the location of the alpine landscape and the height to which the hiking area extends into the national park. The ride up to Zettersfeld offers views of Lienz and the Lienz Dolomites.

Family Park and Refreshments

There are 15 adventure play stations along the family hiking trail in Zettersfeld Family Park. The park is open during the summer operating season of the Zettersfeld gondola lift; opening arrangements may change from season to season. If you are planning a visit, check the specific dates for the relevant season. Panoramarestaurant Steinermandl is the highest-altitude restaurant on Zettersfeld. As restaurant operations may change, it is advisable to check the latest operating information before visiting.

Plan a Stay That Suits You

When choosing a tour, the specific details on route length, elevation gain, terrain and suitability for experienced hikers can help. Be sure to take seasonal trail conditions and the family park’s opening dates into account when planning. This way, you can choose accommodation based on the activities that really matter to you during your stay.
