Sankt Christoph am Arlberg is a ski resort at an altitude of around 1,800 metres. This gives you an initial sense of the character of the place when choosing accommodation for a ski holiday: winter sports are a central focus, alongside trails, a lake and the history of the hospice. The Ski Austria Academy, freeride courses with guides and the various routes appeal to different interests. If you are planning your trip with a partner or children, it helps not to treat these as interchangeable: a Tyrolean ski school, a guided freeride option, an adventure trail and a multi-stage route are different elements of a stay.

Skiing and courses

The Ski Austria Academy St. Christoph am Arlberg includes a Tyrolean ski school. The Academy also offers freeride courses with guides; course offerings and dates may vary. If a specific course is part of your plans, check the current dates and availability. The Arlberg has 300 kilometres of groomed pistes. This figure applies to the Arlberg as a whole, not just Sankt Christoph. So the academy, with its ski school and courses, and the wider ski area are separate points of reference.

Several routes, different destinations

The Arlberg Trail connects Lech, ZĂĽrs, Stuben, St. Christoph and St. Anton over three stages, covering a total of 52 kilometres. The three stages and the overall distance show that it connects several places; 52 kilometres is the total distance, not the length of a single stage. Two other named routes are different: the Adlerweg starts or ends at the Arlberg Hospiz Hotel in St. Christoph. From the Arlberg Pass near St. Christoph, a cross-border ascent leads to the KaltenberghĂĽtte via the Berggeistweg. The routes can be compared by their destinations: the Arlberg Trail connects five places, the Berggeistweg leads to a mountain hut, and the Hospiz Hotel is named as a starting or endpoint for the Adlerweg. This can help you decide whether you are more interested in a multi-stage route connecting places or an ascent to a specific destination.

Maiensee and the adventure trail

Maiensee is a lake and a natural attraction in Sankt Christoph am Arlberg. An adventure trail starts there and is particularly suitable for children. In terms of trip planning, it answers a different question from the Ski Austria Academy: the trail offers a nature and walking experience specifically geared towards children, while the Academy includes a Tyrolean ski school and offers freeride courses with guides. This distinction is useful for families who want to include a child-friendly trail alongside winter sports activities.

Hospice history and the Brotherhood Chapel

The Arlberg Hospice was built by Heinrich Findelkind in 1386. In the 14th century, the former St. Christoph hospice provided travellers with life-saving shelter from storms. These details highlight the hospice’s historical role as a refuge alongside its founding history. The Brotherhood Chapel is the spiritual centre of the Brotherhood of St. Christoph. It has three figurative stained-glass windows by Martin Häusle dating from 1961. Historically, masses were held in the hospice chapel for locals, guests and friends of the Arlberg, as well as for the Brotherhood of St. Christoph. The hospice and chapel complement the resort’s focus on winter sports with religious history and art.
