Kirchbichl: Between the Inn, Culture and SkiWelt

Kirchbichl is located directly on the River Inn. Moorstrandbad Kirchbichl includes a restaurant, a kiosk, a beach volleyball court, tennis facilities and a children's playground. The swimming area was built in 1933/1934 and is one of the oldest outdoor swimming pools in Tyrol. This provides groups with different interests with a documented leisure area featuring several facilities in addition to the winter activities, without implying anything about current opening hours. The Inn Cycle Path also offers a clearly described alternative to a day of skiing: the section from Kirchbichl to Kufstein and onward to Erl is flat and paved throughout. Those interested in sports can also take part in the Kirchbichl Triathlon in the Hohe Salve region, which has been held for more than 40 years. It includes swimming, cycling and running. The sprint distance consists of around 750 metres of swimming, approximately 20 kilometres of cycling and 5.2 kilometres of running; the Olympic distance includes approximately 1.4 kilometres of swimming, 40 kilometres of cycling and 10.4 kilometres of running. The programme also includes a Kids Aquathlon for children and a TRIWomen Aquathlon for women without extensive training experience.

Village character, history and events

The highly visible parish church of Kirchbichl, Our Lady of the Assumption, stands in the village centre. The present church dates from the 14th century and was renovated by Jakob Singer in 1735. It is dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and is a listed monument. Grattenbergl rises south of Kirchbichl, an ascending rocky outcrop on which the largest fortified Hallstatt-period settlement in North Tyrol was located. This historical context adds specific destinations for exploring the village to the winter focus, without presupposing current access to Grattenbergl. On Sunday, 13 December 2026, the Kirchbichl Pre-Christmas Celebration will take place from 2:00 p.m. as its 24th edition. It includes Christmas music in the parish church, a traditional craft market and a Christ Child workshop for children.
