Jasnitz offers practical starting points for planning a holiday around hiking, cycling and local history. These include the Sauerbrunn spring, historic buildings in the Jasnitz Valley and trails that pass through Jasnitz or the valley. When looking for accommodation, you can use these interests as a guide: Would you mainly like to hike, explore by bike or visit cultural sites? The routes described differ in their destinations and surfaces, so you can compare their details to find the right option.

Sauerbrunn Spring and Local History

The Sauerbrunn in Jasnitz is a calcium hydrogen carbonate mineral spring known since the 18th century. The name describes its chemical classification; people from near and far enjoy visiting the carbonated spring water. The area’s history also has specific dates: the Sauerbrunn is mentioned as early as the Josephine Cadastre of 1787, and a cross is documented at the site by 1818 at the latest. This distinguishes the spring’s early written mention from a later historical reference at the same location.

Hiking Between Jasnitz and the Neighboring Towns

The 3-Täler hiking trail connects the Stanzer Sonnenweg with the Kultsteinwege near Mürzhofen and passes through the Mürztaler StreuObstRegion. After the Helfenegger farm, the route reaches Jasnitz. Jasnitz is therefore one of the places reached along the route, while the Stanzer Sonnenweg and Kultsteinwege mark the connected points of reference.

Along the 3-Täler hiking trail, StreuObstWirte, farmers and businesses offer culinary specialties. If you are planning to stop at a particular place, it is worth checking ahead, as individual providers and their offerings may change. After a stop at the Reitbauer inn, the route continues toward Allerheiligen; it takes a break at the Sauerbrunn spring.

Another hiking option is the Stanz-Brandstatt-Hochschlag route. From there, it is possible to descend to Jasnitz or Allerheiligen; the route leads directly to Stanz via the Traßnitzgraben. The destinations therefore differ: depending on which descent you choose, you will reach Jasnitz, Allerheiligen or, via the Traßnitzgraben, Stanz.

Cycling into the Jasnitz Valley

The RT3 Jasnitztal – Kindberg Mürztaler StreuObstRegion cycling route follows the road into the Jasnitz Valley and passes a chapel in the valley. There is a clearly specified change in surface: the section between Eibeggsattel and Eibegghütte is gravel, while the rest of the route is paved. When planning your ride, it is therefore important to know which section is gravel and where the route is described as paved. Conditions may vary, so take this into account when preparing.

Chapels and Other Points of Interest

The Gedächtniskapelle Maria Königin des Friedens (Memorial Chapel of Mary, Queen of Peace) in the Jasnitz Valley was consecrated on June 27, 1948. A small wooden church is located in the Jasnitz Valley in Allerheiligen im Mürztal, part of the municipality of Kindberg. It is near the Eibeggwirt on the road to the Eibeggsattel toward Breitenau. These are two named points of reference for the valley’s local and architectural history.

An ice rink is listed at the address Jasnitz 7, 8643 Kindberg. Before visiting, check with the municipal authority about access and current opening times.
