Lackenhof: Ski holidays between slopes, cross-country trails and winter paths

The route information is particularly helpful when choosing a starting point: the starting and finishing point of all three Tut-gut hiking routes is Weitental, opposite the valley station of the Großer Ötscher double chairlift. The moderately difficult Lackenhof–Ötschergräben–Erlaufklause hike, on the other hand, starts in the centre of Lackenhof. It is 13.99 km long and takes around five hours. The hike “From Lackenhof to the Ötscher” also starts in the centre.

More activities around the resort

In summer, Lackenhof is a starting point for exciting hikes. Well-marked hiking trails and mountain biking routes of all difficulty levels run around the Ötscher village. A shorter and thematically distinctive option is the Lackenhof Story Trail: the forest route is around 5.5 km long and includes seven installations. Along the route, there are opportunities to rest, listen, smell and build a stone cairn.

Another activity is the Ötscher 3D archery course in Lackenhof. It includes more than 50 3D targets across a total of four smaller circuits. Guided tours with specially trained guides are available for beginners and groups by prior arrangement. Equipment can be hired at the starting point by the Ötscher Schirmbar at the valley station of the Großer Ötscher double chairlift, including bows, arrows with quivers, and arm and finger protection.

Culture and excursion destinations

The Karl Teufel private museum displays tools from the carpentry and joinery trades, which were also used by the lumberjacks of earlier times. The museum is open on Thursdays from 9:00 to 11:00 and from 14:00 to 16:00 in the former Lackenhof primary school, or by telephone appointment. This means that a stay in Lackenhof can also be complemented by an insight into working life in earlier times.
