Weinebene – Skiing, Cross-Country Skiing and Winter Trails
Accommodation in Weinebene
Weinebene combines a clearly defined ski area with several options away from the slopes. If you are looking for accommodation for your stay, it is therefore important to first consider which activities are the focus for your travel group. The Weinebene ski area is located at an altitude of 1,580 to 1,886 m on the border between Carinthia and Styria. The Weinebene area extends up to an altitude of 1,900 m.
Ski area with slopes, lifts and snowbike activities
The Weinebene ski area has 18 km of slopes and seven lift facilities.
A special addition is the snowbike activity: Snowbikes can be rented at Weinebene. As a certified snowbike instructor, Kurt Jöbstl teaches the basics of snowbike riding. In addition to classic skiing, this provides another documented way to explore the winter mountain landscape on a sports vehicle.
Cross-country skiing, tobogganing and ski hiking trails
For days when not all travellers want to go alpine skiing, Weinebene offers other designated winter activities. A 15 km-long cross-country ski trail is available for Nordic skiing. There is also a toboggan run and ski hiking trails. These activities differ significantly from lift and slope operations and can therefore play a separate role when choosing accommodation if different activities come together within a travel group.
The altitude and the available winter activities make Weinebene an interesting destination for different forms of winter sports. You should check these conditions separately for your specific travel date.
Hiking and snowshoeing at Weinebene
The trails around the pass summit also expand the range of activities beyond the slopes. The Lavant Valley section of the Koralm-Kristall Trail leads from Reichenfels via Weinebene to Lavamünd. The entire Koralm-Kristall Trail is 80 km long and divided into four stages. For longer tour planning, a distinction must therefore be made between the entire trail and the Lavant Valley section.
A shorter option, explicitly described as easy, is the Moschkogel Tour. It leads as a snowshoe hike over a gently undulating mountain ridge. In addition, the Paulus Chapel, designed by Carl Hermann, the founder of the North-South Long-Distance Trail 05, is located at Weinebene. This combines winter activities with a cultural destination, without any specific trail length or walking time being inferred from it.
Pass summit, parking and refreshments
There is a large car park at the Weinebene pass summit. The Göslerhütte is also a place to stop for refreshments at Weinebene. These two points describe local orientation at the pass, but do not prove a specific distance between accommodation and the ski area, cross-country ski trail or paths.
The winter and excursion destinations mentioned provide no evidence of accommodation located on the slopes, ski-in/ski-out access, a specific level of accessibility with children and equipment, or current availability.
