Skadi-Loppet Bodenmais

The Skidi-Loppet Bodenmais takes place on March 20 and 21, 2010, in one of Bavaria’s most popular winter sports destinations. The relatively young Bodenmais Tourism GmbH has been promising a great deal in its press releases over the past few days. If these statements—and, above all, the whims of the weather—are anything to go by, the largest holiday resort in the Bavarian Forest, with 70,000 guest beds, is inviting visitors to celebrate the opening of the beer gardens for the coming season right in town, under sun umbrellas, while also enjoying alpine skiing in the two surrounding ski areas on the Großer Arber and Nordic skiing at the Bodenmais Activity Center.

Skidi-Loppet Bodenmais

Thanks to the still excellent conditions in the ski areas around Bodenmais, the traditional Skadi Loppet in Bodenmais will once again be the grand finale of the ski season this year, and for the first time it will also crown a European champion. While visitors can enjoy the arrival of spring in the spa town of Bodenmais itself, winter is making a real final sprint at the Bodenmais Activity Center. According to Bodenmais Tourism GmbH, around 2,400 more guests are expected in Bodenmais hotels and holiday apartments for the cross-country skiing marathon races, the Skadi Loppet. Conditions are so good for the last days of winter sports in Bodenmais that the town even expects to be able to promote itself as a winter sports destination in Germany without difficulty until the end of the Easter holidays. Bodenmais has around 110 kilometers of snow-reliable cross-country ski trails and, with the GroĂźer Arber, one of the most modern alpine World Cup ski areas in Germany. Many recreational skiers will once again take part in the Skadi-Loppet in Bodenmais this year. Excellent hotels in Bodenmais promote and support the town, helping make it a popular holiday destination in Germany all year round.
