Garmisch-Partenkirchen: A hotspot for snowboarders and freeriders
Garmisch-Partenkirchen is popular with fans of trendy winter sports. Skiers from all over the world have long been drawn to its slopes of varying difficulty and its many untouched powder runs, which give the ski area around Garmisch-Partenkirchen its special appeal. Now more and more snowboarders and freeriders are making their way to Upper Bavaria, too.
Garmisch-Partenkirchen: Ideal conditions for winter sports enthusiasts
The entire ski region has plenty to offer, with a wide variety of terrain ranging from artificial-snow slopes to glacier runs, as well as a long tradition: skiing has been practiced here above Garmisch-Partenkirchen for eight decades. Garmisch-Partenkirchen is particularly significant as the venue for the Alpine World Cup on the Kandahar course. The “Terrain Park Zugspitze” offers ideal conditions for winter sports enthusiasts, and freeriders are well catered for, too: within a marked and secured area of the park, they can let loose on untouched powder slopes. Winter sports become an unforgettable experience here, as you ski down the slopes at an altitude of almost 2,700 meters, enjoying the sunshine and views across the German and Austrian Alps all the way to Italy and Switzerland. A cog railway and the so-called “Eibsee Cable Car” take visitors up to the snow-covered region.
