Ski holidays on the Seiser Alm with numerous events

The Seiser Alm in South Tyrol is synonymous with a dream ski holiday in the Alps and is one of Italy’s most popular winter sports regions. With resorts such as Kastelruth, Seis am Schlern, Völs am Schlern and the Seiser Alm itself, the Seiser Alm has long established itself as a year-round holiday destination in South Tyrol. The winter season 2009/10 gets underway on the Seiser Alm with the ski opening and the opening of the ski lifts on December 4, next Friday.

Top events for the Seiser Alm ski opening

Alongside skiing, snowboarding and cross-country skiing, the Seiser Alm is once again offering a packed program of top events throughout the winter. If you choose a holiday apartment or a hotel in Kastelruth for your next ski holiday in South Tyrol, you’re guaranteed to be not just a spectator but right in the middle of the action at almost all the events on the Seiser Alm, both on and off the slopes and trails. The traditional Kastelruther Weihnacht also begins on December 4 and features a Christmas market open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. through December 20. Depending on your musical tastes, the two Kastelruther Spatzen concerts on December 11 and 12 could be considered the highlight of Kastelruther Weihnacht. The local favorites and folk music legends will perform on both dates at the local tennis hall.

Winter sports: Moonlight Classic ski marathon

Winter sports enthusiasts will also find plenty to enjoy on a ski holiday on the Seiser Alm, though they’ll have to wait until the end of January. The annual Moonlight Classic ski marathon takes place on January 29, 2010, celebrating its fourth edition this winter. Participants can choose between 20 and 36 kilometers on the cross-country trails under moonlight and floodlights. Around 1,000 ambitious amateur and professional cross-country skiers from Italy and across Europe are expected on the Seiser Alm. The legendary after-race party following the Moonlight Classic ski marathon on the Seiser Alm in South Tyrol alone is reason enough to mark January 29, 2010, on your calendar today.
