Ski Holidays in Liechtenstein: No Price Increase for Cable Cars
The cable cars in the Principality of Liechtenstein are following the commendable example of the ski lifts in neighboring Switzerland and will not raise prices for the 2009/10 winter season. Just a year ago, ski holidaymakers in Liechtenstein were hit with price increases of up to 10%, so at least the Malbun and Brandnertal ski areas are keeping their most recently applicable prices. By contrast, the cable cars in Pizol and Obertoggenburg announced slight increases in ski pass prices in Liechtenstein.
Rainer Gassner of the Malbun cable cars cited the strained economic situation and the price increases the previous year mentioned above as the main reasons for the price freeze in Liechtenstein’s ski areas. Anyone planning to spend a lot of time on Liechtenstein’s slopes and cross-country trails this coming winter can save extra money by buying an annual pass during the advance sale. In the Malbun ski area, annual passes—normally priced at 440 francs for adults, 330 francs for concessions and 260 francs for children—are available at a discount of up to 10%. The advance sale in the Malbun ski area starts on November 16 and runs through December 4; the slopes and cross-country trails in Malbun are expected to open the following day, December 5. The ski season in Liechtenstein will then last until mid-April 2010.
Ski holidays in Liechtenstein are also possible from late November, when the cable cars and ski lifts in the Brandnertal valley begin operating. Brandnertal is considered particularly snow-reliable, so skiers, snowboarders and cross-country skiers can already look forward to an extended winter in Liechtenstein. Affordable ski hotels in Liechtenstein are available in our selection, in keeping with the price freeze at the cable cars in Malbun and Brandnertal.
