Christmas Ski Holiday in Lammertal
During Advent, the Lammertal valley has a romantic atmosphere. A horse-drawn sleigh ride through the enchanted snowy landscape is particularly impressive. Snorting horses trudge through sparkling snow while the family, wrapped up snugly in blankets, admires the paradise-like scenery. It’s the perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit.
A stroll around the little Advent market is sure to be fun for the whole family, too. And you might even pick up a Christmas present at the last minute. It is open every Sunday from November 30 to December 21. The kids warm their hands around bags of roasted chestnuts amid the aroma of mulled wine, punch, and gingerbread. There are plenty of Austrian specialties to enjoy as well.

The Lammertal ski area is only about 30 km from Salzburg. The extensive interconnected ski area offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Dachstein massif and Gosaukamm ridge. The BischofsmĂĽtze, rising over 2,400 m, forms a majestic backdrop to the small ski area. The well-groomed slopes range from intermediate to easy. The wonderfully cozy mountain village is ideal for a family ski holiday, as are the neighboring villages of Abtenau, Annaberg, and Russbach. You can quickly forget the stresses of everyday life in these rustic mountain villages.
Cross-country skiers can look forward to a snow-sure network of trails extending about 170 km. Around 60 km of trails are near Abtenau in the Tennengebirge mountains. The trails at Postalm are considered particularly snow-sure. The Russbach Pass GschĂĽtt trail requires a good level of fitness.
Non-skiers will also enjoy the beautiful forested areas of the Lammertal ski region. The many mountain huts along the slopes are also perfect places to relax.
Snowboarders head to Gosau for the Playground Snowpark with its park lift, or to the Rookie Park at the Russbach Hornbabylift and the trailer parks at the Heideggriedlift. Even top skiers and world champions such as Alexandra Meissnitzer, David Zwilling, and Matthias Lanzinger have trained in the Lammertal ski area.
