Attractive events also draw visitors to Tyrol. The Tyrolean Alpine Summer celebrates its anniversary from August 3 to 10, and Tyrol invites everyone to join the festivities. The market day features music and demonstrations of traditional crafts. Preparations for this anniversary year have been underway since spring 2007. Families and children are at the heart of the celebrations. There’s fun, music, and dancing for all ages in Tyrol’s Brixental Valley. The mountain illumination, lit by 45,000 torches, will be especially impressive.

An exciting children’s program in Westendorf offers little ones the chance to enjoy pony rides. Other activities include the Alpolino treasure hunt, craft walks, a horse-drawn carriage ride, a children’s outing and Olympics, plus more surprises for the kids.

Trout fishing and a barbecue get underway on August 5 at around 10 a.m. Guests are asked to contribute just €5 toward the cost.

The Alpine Summer Festival in Tyrol promises fun for everyone. The family torchlight hike on August 7 at around 8:30 p.m. is sure to be a highlight.

Seefeld, at the foot of the Karwendel Mountains, is one of Tyrol’s most popular holiday destinations. And, of course, there are Kitzbühel and St. Johann. The Wilder Kaiser, Lake Achensee, Ötztal, Alpbachtal, Kleinwalsertal, Kufstein, Lechtal, Pillerseetal, Pitztal, Stubaital, Tannheim Valley, Zillertal, and Zugspitze are also very popular with German holidaymakers—for both ski holidays and summer vacations. The reason is surely Tyrol’s dreamlike scenery and warm hospitality.
