Zillertal – Paradise for Ski Holidays and Biking
The 2008 Deutschland Tour starts on August 29 in Kitzbühel. The toughest stage of the famous cycling race will likely take riders through the Zillertal. All 9 days of racing are sure to bring action and excitement.
Highlights of this top-tier international cycling race include the Kitzbühel Gerlos Pass and the mountain finish in the Zillertal. The route passes through the Kitzbühel and Zillertal landscapes, famous for ski holidays. The first day's stage finishes at the Hahnenkammbahn.

On the second day of racing in the Zillertal, the professional cyclists will face a tough challenge. They must overcome 3 difficult climbs. No one wants to risk losing time. From September 30, the wheat will be separated from the chaff over just a few kilometers.
The route in Hochfügen in the Zillertal is considered the “queen stage.” And rightly so. This is why spectator interest in the Zillertal is particularly high. Spectacular competitions are expected here—not just in the 2008 Deutschland Tour.
More and more visitors are also drawn to the beautiful Zillertal for ski holidays. Olympic champions come here, too, to their “home ski area.” The Zillertal Arena is considered the largest ski area in the valley, while Ski Zillertal 3000 in Tirol's Mayrhofen is the second largest. There you'll find Austria's steepest groomed “Harakiri ski run,” probably, for particularly daring skiers.
The Zillertal ski paradise is also becoming increasingly popular with bikers. Pros and enthusiasts alike can find ideal routes where they can admire the breathtaking mountain scenery.
