Bregenzerwald ski resort invites you to a summer Schubertiade

The mountainous landscape of the Bregenzerwald lies between Lake Constance, the Allgäu and the Arlberg. It borders Germany to the north, the Großes Walsertal to the south and the Kleinwalsertal to the northeast.

A tranquil atmosphere characterizes the Bregenzerwald ski resort. Life here is relaxed, with none of the high-society scene. People would rather enjoy a glass of wine at an inn than the disco music at an umbrella bar.

The Bregenzerwald is known for reliable snow and frequent sunny days. Small, family-run ski resorts lie amid gentle mountain scenery in the front part of the Bregenzerwald. They neither want to nor can compete with huge ski arenas. Those who prefer smaller, manageable ski areas feel right at home here. Families will find easy slopes on the Brüggelekopf near Alberschwende and the Hochhäderich in Hittisau-Riefensberg. Bödele, with the Hochälplekopf near Dornbirn / Schwarzenberg, and Egg-Schetteregg are also among them.

From Mellau onward, the ski terrain becomes more alpine and increasingly modern. Cross-country skiers will also find plenty to enjoy. Around 300 kilometers of trails pass by picturesque villages.

At 2,060 m, the Diedamskopf is considered the highest peak in the Bregenzerwald, with well-maintained slopes for all ability levels. The panoramic restaurant serves culinary delights and offers magnificent views of Lake Constance and the Allgäu, Swiss, Tyrolean and Vorarlberg Alps.

There is also an activity area for kids on the upper floor of the panoramic restaurant. A children's paradise with games and fun across 300 m², with supervision.

A summer holiday has plenty to offer, too. Enjoy wonderful hikes across flowering meadows and past rushing mountain streams. Paragliders and mountain bikers discovered the Bregenzerwald long ago.

Summer also brings cultural events, such as the Schwarzenberg Schubertiade from June 13 to 22, and again from August 23 to September 6, on weekends. With around 70 concerts and song recitals, it is considered the world's largest Schubert festival. More recently, visitors can enjoy a two-hour picnic ride in an elegant, two-horse Landau carriage. Over fine wine and pastries, stories are told using Schubert's letters about his country outings and carriage rides.
