Top holiday destination: Achensee, even without skiing
The Achensee is a family holiday paradise with plenty to offer, even beyond the ski season. Crystal-clear Lake Achensee is considered Tyrol’s largest—and perhaps most beautiful—lake. The Achensee is a true holiday paradise not only for skiing, but also for sailing and surfing.
Enjoy 9 km of wonderful sailing and surfing with ideal water and wind conditions. The lake is also perfect for trendy kitesurfing and paragliding. Colourful paragliders can be seen in the sky throughout the summer. Lake Achensee is also enjoyed by passenger boats, rowboats and pedal boats, anglers, divers and, of course, swimmers.

Bikers love coming here, too. More than 250 km of cycling and mountain-biking routes are clearly signposted, making the Achensee Tyrol’s most popular biking destination. There are plenty of easy routes for those who want to enjoy the beautiful scenery, as well as sporting challenges for mountain bikers of all abilities.
Nature lovers can explore 450 kilometres of varied hiking trails. Visitors can enjoy leisurely walks by the lake, or take the Rofan cable car in Maurach to start out on higher-altitude trails. Alternatively, the Karwendel cable car in Pertisau offers access to the mountains. The Adlerweg long-distance hiking trail, with its Adlerhorst viewing platform, is another exciting option. Adlerhorst offers breathtaking 360° panoramic views.
If you love heights and speed, try the Airrofan on the Gschöllkopf. The 800-metre-long Airrofan gives thrill-seekers an adrenaline rush as they travel at 85 km/h. Shaped like an eagle, the Skyglider swoops down with a 200-metre change in altitude—a flight experience like no other.
Runners and Nordic walkers will also find plenty to enjoy at the Achensee. More than 170 km of running trails for all abilities await athletes and casual walkers alike. There are even two golf courses for golf enthusiasts: the 18-hole Golf and Landclub Achensee in Pertisau and the 9-hole course in Achenkirch.
The diverse range of leisure activities at the Achensee means there’s never a dull moment.
