Tyrolean hospitality is known all over the world. The owners of Tyrol’s ski huts put their heart and soul into their work. Guests feel completely at ease in this atmosphere. Skiing holidays and good food simply go together.
Guests voted for last year’s winner again. The Harschbichlhütte, in the Schneewinkel ski area in St. Johann, Tyrol, is the clear winner. At just twenty years old, Hans Berger took over the traditionally rustic mountain hut. Homemade Tyrolean specialties served by a friendly team seem to be the secret of its success. Add to that the magnificent panoramic views over the Kitzbühel Alps. It’s not just guests on skiing holidays who feel at home here.
Second prize went to the Hanglalm snack station in the Kitzbühel ski area of Resterhöhe–Pass Thurn. The innkeeper’s winning recipe is first-class regional cuisine prepared using old family recipes.
The brand-new “Gipfö-Hit” with a DJ at Schatzberg in the Wildschönau ski area climbed to third place in a few giant strides. The new rustic ski hut, which also boasts fantastic panoramic views, only opened in early December 2007. The innkeepers’ Tyrolean cuisine is simply “worth the indulgence.”
Gasthof Hochschwendt is the most popular ski hut in the Wilder Kaiser–Brixental ski area. A little away from the crowds, skiers on holiday can relax and recharge their batteries here. The majestic mountain scenery of the Wilder Kaiser, excellent food at reasonable prices, and a family atmosphere helped the hut win people over.
Fifth place went to Berggasthof Ferchlstadl, the most popular ski hut in the Pillersee Valley. This ski hut, too, follows Tyrol’s winning formula: hospitality, first-class cuisine, and a family atmosphere. That’s why skiing holidays in Tyrol are so popular.
