Alpenglow in the Alps and Dolomites
Alpenglow is the light of the setting and rising sun reflected in magnificent shades of red in the mountains. Snow and rock surfaces scatter the light of the alpenglow. Rain before sunset creates especially shimmering colors as wet rocks gleam in the sunlight. A sparkling blanket of snow on the mountain slopes naturally enhances the effect of the alpenglow, too.
This fascinating natural spectacle is intensified as the Earth's shadow rises in the east, with a purple band of twilight. Alpenglow is the reflection of the evening glow in the mountains. It is especially beautiful to observe in the Alps and the Dolomites. The Dachstein Glacier, Dachstein Glacier, Grossglockner, Wilder Kaiser, Mount Everest and the Dolomite peaks offer particularly breathtaking views of this natural spectacle. It is hard to resist the fascination of these luminous scenes.

This sight is unforgettable, for example, after a moonlit walk in the morning. In October, the sunset gondola on the Dachstein invites visitors to admire this natural wonder. Renowned photographers, too, don't want to miss this impressive scene.
The Dolomites, with their wonderful ski resorts, display the splendid colors of the alpenglow. It seems as though it were invented in Trentino. Wonderful ski resorts with around 800 kilometers of slopes are located in Trentino. Ski holiday paradises include Val di Fiemme (Fleimstal), Cermis, Lavazé, Rolle Pass and Latemar.
Admirers of the alpenglow will find plenty to enjoy in Paneveggio Nature Park and the Pale di San Martino Dolomites massif. They are located in northeastern Trentino, in the northeast of Italy. The forests of the family-friendly Fleimstal are among the most beautiful in Europe. It is well worth experiencing the alpenglow in the ski area of the Fleimstal Dolomites.
