Award-Winning Snowboarding in Zell
Zell am See had already been recognized by Falk Verlag as an ideal destination for a family holiday. Now the renowned ADAC Ski travel magazine has named Zell the most improved destination of 2008. The annual magazine reports on Europe's most popular travel destinations. This time, 40 ski areas were carefully inspected and rated. The criteria included après-ski, family holidays, cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, snowparks, variety, and small and intimate resorts. Zell am See-Kaprun is firmly among the world's leading ski regions.
Ski area on the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier
The area on the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier has proven itself to be a ski and snowboard paradise. The new Mellow Park, at over 3,000 m, is a real highlight for snowboarders. According to the ADAC report, only the parks in Austria's Mayrhofen and Switzerland's Laax are a little better. Zell am See-Kaprun was awarded third place.

Most improved destination of the year
The ski region achieved an outright win as the "most improved destination of the year". Extensive infrastructure upgrades brought it first place. It left formidable competitors behind. Hochpustertal took second place, and the Obergurgl / Hochgurgl ski area came third. Pizol and Brandnertal did not make the top three. Improvements to the slopes, lifts and cable cars helped secure the win, as did facilities such as the Schmittenhöhe „Drive-In“. The new trassXpress and Breiteck lifts carry winter visitors straight to the slopes.
A superb winter sports holiday in a ski and snowboard paradise is not to be missed. Summer holidays also offer incredible variety.
