Residents of Zell-Am-Se town had to complain about excessive noise, which produces numerous bars of the Austrian ski resort in the Salzburg region.
City officials have received a lot of complaints from Zell Am See residents and other nearby resorts with the requirement to control noise in the resort night facilities. After the check local authorities have administratively set the possible level of noise, which should not exceed 65 decibels. According to the results of a recent check, a number of discos and night bars don’t observe the established standards. In 20 cases it was found that the owners violated the noise limitation. In some cases the level of noise reached 100 decibels or higher. This level is comparable to the noise produced by a blacksmith's shop or a helicopter.
Among the facilities that have violated noise regulations in addition to Zell-am-See were such resorts as Saalbach, Kaprun, Saalfelden and Mittersil.
Currently fines for exceeding the noise level at the Austrian ski resorts reach 3500 Euros and more. In addition, inspectors have the right to close down the facility, which violates the rules.
