Bulgarian ski resort: Easter skiing

At the end of the season Bulgarian ski resort Pamporovo, which is one of the most popular resorts in the country, decided to make a surprise for its guests. Pamporovo offers free skiing on its slopes on the Easter Eve.

According to the Bulgarian National Television, the resort administration decided to offer unique opportunity to free skiing on the slopes of Pamporovo before the Easter after consultation with the Smolyan city authorities, which is located near the resort.

Free skiing on the Pamporovo slopes will be offered during the last two days before the Easter. This year the Orthodox Easter will be celebrated in Bulgaria from 13 to 16 April. Bulgarian TV notes that skiing conditions in Pamporovo will suit both skiers and fans of mountaineering. Extend to mid-April season in Pamporovo is the result of heavy snowfalls of the last winter, which supplied the resort with more than two meters of snow.

It is worth noting that two other well-known resorts in Bulgaria Bansko and Borovetz reported about the end of the season in early April. However Pamporovo decided to extend winter holidays for another two weeks. Today snow cover level on the slopes is more than 1m. The resort administration does not exclude that few tracks will operate even after April 15. However the routes are not specified.

Pamporovo hotels, apartments and private villas traditionally reduce prices and offer special conditions to its guests in the end of the season. Thus, one-day ski pass in Pamporovo now costs 41 levs, half-day - 31 levs.

Local hoteliers have already called successful the current ski season in Pamporovo. Against the background of the disastrous 2011-2012 season, the increase of tourist flow this season looks impressive. Pamporovo was traditionally popular among the neighboring Greece, Macedonia, Turkey and Romania. Russian tourists also contributed to the resort’s success.
