Already two ski resorts in Switzerland received the highest VCS (Swiss automobile club) marks for the quality of the transport systems in the "mobile and environmentally-friendly" rating.
VCS conducted infrastructure environmental tests and tourists comfort tests at 14 ski resorts in Switzerland: Adelboden, Arosa, Crans-Montana, Davos, Enegelberg, Grindelwald, Lenzerheide, Leukerbad, Saas Fe, Scuol, St. Moritz, Verbier, Wengen and Zermatt. Zermatt and Saas Fe were marked as the best resorts, according to the Zermatt official website.
It is worth mentioning that the transport in Zermatt has long been a prime example of leisure organization at luxury winter resorts. The whole area of Zermatt is declared a car free zone. The basis of transport in Zermatt is electric cars and the good old horse-drawn carts. In addition, for those, who want to spend here winter holidays and get by car, resorts’ authorities have provided spacious parkings in the near Saas Fe and Zermatt.
In addition, Zermatt and Saas Fe were marked for their efforts to promote excellence in the organization of transportation outside of Switzerland. Some Swiss innovations can be found today at ski resorts on both sides of the Atlantic.
In addition to Saas Fe and Zermatt, the Association of Transport and Environment also awarded Davos and Grindelwald. Experts marked the system of free ski-passes at the resorts.
Scuol is another holiday resort in Switzerland, which was praised for its separate passengers and ski equipment and baggage transport system and the development of electric car rental service. Scuol also won extra points for free public transport within the resort.
To date, Zermatt is, perhaps, the most respectable resort in Switzerland and throughout Europe. This is one of the few resorts on the planet where the ski season is opened year round. Zermatt has recently been connected by lift system with the Italian ski resort of Cervinia.
