Holidays in Austria remains one of the most popular winter holiday destinations in Europe. Ski resorts in Austria every year are among the best tourist destinations for celebrating New Year and active recreation on the slopes of the Alps. The tourist industry in Austria, despite the financial crisis, slightly suffered the decline in tourist flow and could even show an increase in recent years. On the background of such an optimistic picture the desire of Austrians to "skim the cream" from thousands of skiers, who arrive each winter to the slopes of Kitzbuel, hotels in St. Anton, chalets in Zölden and apartments in Ischgl, is quite understandable.
German edition "Konsument" conducted an analysis of prices for ski passes in Austria and came to the conclusion that over the past few years the prices for ski passes in Austria has increased significantly at least at 80 ski resorts in Tyrol, Carinthia and Salzburg. The rise in prices from 2006-2007 at these resorts is amounted at 10%.The publication notes that at many ski resorts in Austria prices for ski passes are twice higher than the rate of inflation. This is especially true for smaller resorts.
"Konsument" as a demonstration example gives the rise in prices for ski passes in two centers of skiing holidays in Austria. Zimmering ski resort and located nearby Schtulek over the past four years have raised the cost of ski passes for 14% and 14.5% respectively.
The lowest prices on vacation in Austria the experts of "Konsument" found on the slopes of a small ski center Zahmer Kaiser/Walchsee, located in Tyrol. This resort, known as a family one, offers a 6-day ski pass on their tracks for 2 adults, one child and one teenager on the total price of 290 euros.
The publication does not disclose how much prices have risen in popular ski areas like Ski Amade or Zaalbach Ski Circus. But it is already clear that the selection of an independent tour to Austria you should thoroughly study the offer of ski resorts for economy.
