It seems that the problem of alcoholism, especially during the holiday, is very important not only in our region. The second phase of an advertising campaign called “Know Before You Go”, aimed at raising awareness of British winter sports fans about the dangers that wait people on the slopes, who drinks before skating a couple of glasses of something alcoholic. It was launched under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom, which has cooperates with the four largest tour operators in the country, who offer tours to the resorts of France, Italy and Switzerland.
According to the statement made by four tour operators Crystal Ski, Inghams, Thomson Ski, First Choice Ski and Neilson, as well as companies Off the Piste and Ski Alpine, specializing in ski tours for students - "Following the successful initiative to raise awareness about the dangers of using alcohol at ski resorts, which, according to British tour operators, has helped to finish last season without any serious incidents, we decided to start a campaign this winter, which will continue this initiative, as well as media campaign urging to buy full insurance coverage ".
The goals of the campaign are to create a simple idea that alcohol in the mountains has harder effects than usual and seriously increases the probability of incidents as well as preventing adequately assess the risk of injury, become too cold or even suffer from frostbite. Campaign, launched by the initiative of the British Foreign Office is supported by rescue services and police, representatives of tour agencies and the administration of the airports mentioned above European countries. In bars, restaurants and public areas of hotels located in the ski resorts will hang specially designed informational posters.
The success of a similar campaign, which took place last winter, makes the organizers confident about the possibility of achieving their goals. Lynda St.Cooke, who is responsible for the campaign from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: "We work with our partners in this campaign more than 5 years. We do not want to stop people having fun, we just remind British skiers, that it is better to take precautions in advance, and the lack of a suitable insurance policy can become a very serious mistake.
