The world-famous Steamboat Ski Resort, located in Colorado, USA, announced its opening soon. From next Wednesday - November 24 - for skiing will be available 66 tracks, located on the territory of approximately 926 hectares with 5 lifts.
On the opening day of the season, which at the resort is jokingly called the Scholarship Day, will be available special offers for lift tickets that can be purchased for only USD 30 and a separate ticket for the Christie Peak Express lift, which serves the lower slopes and costs USD 20.
On the opening day all types of season tickets are not valid and the funds from ticket sales on the Scholarship Day are directed to the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club's Scholarship Fund. This fund finances education of gifted children who are participating in the programs of the Winter Sports Club, one of the most famous and oldest ski clubs in the United States.
According Chris Diamond, president and CEO of Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation, snow conditions in Colorado on the eve of the season opening this year are the best for more than a decade. Such an early winter there was observed in 1996 for the last time.
Some heavy snowfalls have brought this month about 130 cm of fresh snow, and snow cover on the slopes of Thunderhead is about 180 cm. So, the lovers of skiing will have the opportunity to fully rest on the eve of the Thanksgiving Day.
On the opening day will operate five lifts - Christie Peak Express, Gondola, Storm Peak Express, Burgess Creek and 4 Points. 66 tracks will be opened for skiing, which is about a third of its total number at the Steamboat Ski Resort. There will also be opened the legendary ski area covered by forest, including the upper parts of Shadows and Closets, Flying Z, Twilight and Triangle 3 tracks.
