Roller skiing is still far less popular in Switzerland than alpine skiing. Races in this summer discipline, which combines cross-country skiing and inline skating, have been held only sporadically in Switzerland in the past. The newly launched Roller Ski Cup is set to change all that starting this summer.

The Roller Ski Cup will take place in Switzerland for the first time this year and, provided it is well received by athletes from Switzerland and abroad, is intended to be held every summer in the future. When selecting the individual events that will make up the Roller Ski Cup, the organizers have made sure to include an appealing mix of flat and mountainous courses.

For example, the Roller Ski Cup kicks off on June 21 in Zurich, one of Switzerland’s major cities. Just six days later, on June 27, the Roller Ski Cup heads to the Engadin, where participants will follow the original route of the ski marathon between Maloja and Schanf, covering 42.2 kilometers on wheels. The final flat stage is scheduled for July 4 in Einsiedeln, followed by two mountain races: at San Bernadino on July 19 and in Weinfelden on August 29.
