On May 29, 2010 in Antalya, was started regular congress of the International Ski Federation FIS. Congress, which is held for the 47th time, this year collected more than 1000 representatives from 74 states.
In Turkey the FIS Congress is held for the first time within the past 12 years. The last time it was hosted by Istanbul in 1998.
At this congress the participants will make a number of important decisions. Thus, at the Congress in Antalya, the representatives of the national ski federations will define venues for the Ski-jumping World Cup for the 2014 and Ski World Cup 2015.
It is worth noting that in the case of organizing the Ski-jumping World Cup the voting promises to be easy, since there is only one declared candidate. So now with great certainty we can say that the Ski-jumping World Cup in 2014 will be held at a ski resort Harrachov in the Czech Republic. It is Harrachov that is the only candidate.
As for the Ski World Cup 2015, here the competition is much interesting. For the right to host the Ski World Championship will fight a number of well-known ski resorts: Falun (Sweden), Obersdorf (Germany), Lahti (Finland) and Zakopane (Czech Republic). All of these resorts at different times hosted the world championships.
Within the scope of the presentation on Monday 1 June 2010 in Antalya opened an exhibition of candidates for the Ski World Cup. Each candidate presents opportunities of their regions as a part of the sports infrastructure (roads, ski lifts) and in terms of tourist attraction. At the stands of candidates people can get acquainted with the cultural traditions of the region, as well as to taste the local cuisine.
The exhibition of the candidates will last until Thursday. On Thursday the Congress will vote to determine the venue. According the official site of the International Ski Federation fis-ski.com voting will take place at 19.00 on local time.
