A well-known British tabloid The Guardian has published a list of 10 top hotels and bases offering not only a great ski entertainment, but also a great eco-friendly vacation. Add a little green heat, home comfort or unity with nature to your leisure staying at one of the stylish ski resorts, in a futuristic luxury Swiss hotel at the top of Monte Rosa mountain or in the wonderful century old chalet in France.
The first place in the list holds one of the most unexplored ski areas - a picturesque village of Lavigerie in the Auvergne region. Located here Hotel Alta Terra forgotten and abandoned in the 20-s of the last century now is an example of a magnificent eco-friendly hotel that offers rooms with breakfast. After a long skiing and snowboarding here you can relax and get warm in the Turkish hammam or traditional sauna and in the morning to treat yourself with the breakfast from the gentle French cheese, ham and aromatic fresh yogurt from the nearest farm. The cost of the room for two is 65 euros per night, including breakfast.
The second place is occupied by a ski eco-haven in the Pennine Alps in the picturesque mountainous massif of Monte Rosa. Here on one of the peaks near the village of Zermatt at an altitude of 2,883 meters above sea level is located a unique building, which has futuristic design, innovative architecture, ultra-modern technology and a magnificent view of the picturesque peak of the Matterhorn, Gorner, Grenz and Monte Rosa glaciers. Due to the use of solar energy a unique structure for 90% provides itself with energy and thermal requirements and can receive at a time up to 120 travelers and climbers. Spring season will last from March 10 to mid-May and summer session will begin in mid-July. The cost of the room starts from 35 Swiss francs.
A small French Maison Coutin family hotel in the heart of the Vallee de la Tarentaise took the third place. Here is a small charming town of Peisey-Nancroix you can wonderfully relax if you are looking for not only the thrill from skiing, but also quiet, calm and simple, but health-improving rural relaxation. The hotel has only 3 rooms, fresh vegetables are served straight from the patches and delicious dishes of French cuisine are cooked in a wood-burning stove. Here you can also make a beautiful walk along the picturesque alpine surroundings or, having yearned about noisy entertainment and skiing and snowboarding, to lift on a funicular to the famous ski resort of Les Arcs. The cost of stay at the hotel for two per the week is 558, including breakfast.
