On April 25th, 2009 on the slopes of Austrian ski resort St Anton will take place one of the hugest ski events of the year - “Der Weiße Rausch - The White Thrill” ski race. This competition is annual and throughout the years it has become some kind of cult among winter sports fans.
Every winter hundreds of skiers form various counties gather there to participate in this exciting race. The competitors – skiers and snowboarders - are to meet at the altitude of 2,650 meters and then to mass start down the slope from the Vallugagrat into the valley. The race is quite tough but many of the participants do it just fir the fun of it.
Note: St Anton is a well-known ski resort situated in the Tyrolean Alps at the heights of about 1,300 meters above the sea level. It lies at the foot of the road heading up to the Arlberg pass. St Anton has a rather long history of being a ski resort. In 2001 it hosted the Alpine World Skiing Championships. St Anton was popular even before the World War II so nowadays it provides decent and well developed infrastructure. This resort is the right choice for those who like a lot of action and fun.
