More than a month before we informed that Val d'Isère World Championships Organizing Committee started receiving invitation requests for visiting the events of the World Alpine Ski Championships races scheduled for February 2009.

Since then more than 120.000 requests were received and confirmed via official website www.valdisere2009.org and special hotline. The lucky 100.000th applicant granted an invitation happened to be Patrick Louvat from Genas near Lyon. This fortunate person is entitled to get a free holiday package provided by the Tourist Office.

The Savoie and Haute Savoie County Councils will provide free tickets for the World Championships' men's and women’s events in form of invitations issued by the Savoie Mont Blanc Tourism office. Free railway transportation between Bourg St Maurice and Val d'Isère and tickets for local express TER trains priced as little as EUR 1 will be also available for those who wish to visit the World Championships.

The Organizing Committee expects that the events held in the framework of the World Championship 2009 will be attended by at least 200.000 visitors. The most popular events at the moment are men and women downhill races scheduled for February 7th and Sunday 8th and men's slalom race on Sunday February 15th.

Meanwhile, after casting the vote Bourg St Maurice Town Council made a decision that the town would be the official partner of the World Ski Championships providing transit support for visitors traveling from the valley to Val d'Isère. So the capital of the Haute Tarentaise region will became a very important transit hub for the period and contribute to success of the event organization.
