The ski slopes and cross-country trails are excellently groomed, and the lift facilities can hold their own internationally. The best way to get there is via Sofia, from where the Bulgarian ski resorts are easy to reach. A first-class ski area lies just half an hour from the Bulgarian capital, at an altitude of around 1,800 metres.
