The Sage Creek Rim Road, by contrast, is a gravel road through the Sage Creek Wilderness Area of Badlands National Park. The Needles Highway presents a clear contrast: when conditions are suitable, it is open for various activities, while motor vehicles are prohibited there. If you are traveling with children, equipment or different interests, this distinction is one of the practical points you can take into account when planning your daily destinations.
