Lake Harmony: Lake, Ski Slopes, and Seasonal Snow Tubing
Accommodation in Lake Harmony
Lake Harmony combines a private lake with winter offerings such as Big Boulder Ski Resort’s 15 ski slopes and seasonal snow tubing.
Lake and accommodation: plan access carefully
Lake Harmony is privately owned. If you want to use the lake, your accommodation must be on the shore: access is reserved for guests staying at waterfront accommodations. Kayaking and other water sports on Lake Harmony are also available to guests staying at accommodations on its shores. So when choosing your accommodation, check whether it belongs to this group if lake access or water sports are important to your stay.
Another activity on the water is the cruises offered by Lake Harmony Cruises. The operator is located at Nick’s Lake House, 20 S. Lake Drive, Lake Harmony, PA 18624. The cruises and the water sports available to guests staying at waterfront accommodations are different ways to include the lake in your travel plans.
Big Boulder: ski slopes and seasonal snow tubing
Big Boulder Ski Resort has 15 ski slopes. Big Boulder also offers snow tubing at the bubly Tubing Park. This gives you two different winter activities in the area: skiing on the slopes and tubing. Snow tubing is seasonal; if you plan this activity, check current operating dates before your trip. The slopes and tubing on offer provide a specific point of reference for a winter trip to Lake Harmony, without implying anything about operating hours on a particular travel date.
Scenery, trails, and fishing
The Lake Harmony landscape includes clear glacial lakes, gently rolling hills, and lush forests. One way to connect the town center with another waterside landscape is the Kidder Hike & Bike Trail, which connects downtown Lake Harmony with Big Boulder Lake. The trail provides its own route between these two named locations, separate from the cruises on Lake Harmony.
Fishing is also one of the area’s activities. Fish found in Lake Harmony and the Poconos include bass, bluegill, catfish, crappie, perch, pickerel, pike, trout, and walleye. If you prefer to fish with a guide, Captain Joe’s Fishing & Waterman Services offers guided fishing trips on Lake Harmony. The species listed and the guided option offer different points of reference for planning a fishing trip.
Golf and local history
Golf is another option: Split Rock Golf Club is one of the golf offerings in Lake Harmony.
Nick’s Lake House is part of the area’s history. It is the latest iteration of the first hotel and restaurant built in Lake Harmony. Its name thus connects local hotel and restaurant history with a present-day named gathering place in the area, which is also listed as the location of Lake Harmony Cruises.
