Incline Village: Skiing, Beaches, and Recreation
Accommodation in Incline Village
There are also trails and sports activities, as well as regional nature and cultural destinations. Consider whether skiing, the beach, or other outdoor activities should be the focus of your trip.
Skiing at Diamond Peak
Diamond Peak is a community-owned ski resort above Incline Village. It offers skiers and snowboarders of all ability levels terrain across a vertical drop of 1,840 feet and an area of 655 acres. These two figures give an idea of the elevation difference and the size of the terrain.
Operating hours and snow conditions vary by season. If you are planning a ski trip, check the latest information for your travel dates. This helps you consider winter sports as a distinct focus without assuming that seasonal conditions are constant.
Beaches, Access, and Water Sports
The Incline Village General Improvement District (IVGID) manages four access-restricted beaches in Incline Village, Nevada. Access is available to holders of an IVGID Picture Pass or a Recreation Punch Card with beach access, as well as their guests. If a beach visit is part of your plans, check in advance which access rules apply to your group.
Burnt Cedar Beach has a small sandy beach with a protected swimming cove. Facilities also include an outdoor pool with a waterslide, an adjacent children’s wading pool, and a launch area for paddleboards and kayaks. Incline Beach has a sandy beach and a swimming area. Ski Beach has a boat launch, picnic areas, a bocce court, and a volleyball court.
Rules for watercraft also vary by area: the east side of the boat ramp at Ski Beach is reserved for private, non-motorized watercraft, including kayaks, canoes, and small sailboats. When planning, consider whether you are looking for a beach day, a boat launch, or a launch site for a non-motorized watercraft.
Get Active Beyond the Slopes
The Incline Village Fitness Trail is a 0.8-mile exercise trail with 18 stations. It winds through the forest beside Incline Creek and is suitable year-round for walking, running, snowshoeing, cycling, and working out. In winter, snow conditions affect its use.
Holman Family Bike Park offers a pump track, flow lines for beginner and intermediate riders, and jumps. Riders of all ages and ability levels are welcome. This makes it different from the Fitness Trail, which combines several types of activity along one route.
The Incline Village Tennis & Pickleball Center has seven tennis courts and 15 pickleball courts; operations are seasonal and weather-dependent. The public Incline Village Championship Golf Course is an 18-hole course on Lake Tahoe with views of the lake. It was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr.; golf operations are seasonal.
Seasonal Activities and Regional Culture
In summer, Ski Beach has live music from 4 to 7 p.m. on most Wednesdays and Fridays. Outdoor classes are also held there from May to October. If you want to plan around these activities, check the dates for your travel period.
A regional attraction is Sand Harbor State Park. Its landscape features gently sloping beaches, crystal-clear water, and distinctive rock formations; visitors can also swim, kayak, and scuba dive. The Sand Harbor Visitor Center and Gift Shop offers self-guided tours, informative exhibits, and local information. Check current operating details before your trip. The Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival takes place in the park every summer; check the current program for the specific season.
The area’s history offers another point of interest: the remains of the Great Incline of the Sierra Nevada are on the mountain above Incline Village. The Sierra Nevada Wood and Lumber Company completed the 4,000-foot lift in 1880. This historical topic adds another option to the mix of skiing, beaches, and outdoor activities.
