Granby: Winter Trails, Cycling Options, and Skiing at Granby Ranch
Accommodation in Granby
Granby offers a range of options to consider when planning a trip: family-friendly skiing at Granby Ranch, groomed winter trails at Granby Trails, walking and cycling trails, and a section of the Colorado River.
Skiing, Winter Trails, and Walks
Granby Ranch offers family-friendly skiing. In winter, the meadow trails at Granby Trails are supplemented by groomed trails suitable for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. This gives you two other winter activities to choose from alongside skiing: cross-country skiing and snowshoeing on the meadow trails. The options differ by activity, so they should not be treated as the same experience when planning your trip.
Granby Trails also has about a mile of ADA-accessible walking trails with concrete and compacted earth surfaces. These walking trails offer a distinct option alongside the groomed meadow trails: the length and surface are specified for the walking trails, while the winter trails are expressly suitable for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.
Colorado River and Conservation
Granby Trails, Fishing & Dog Park includes a dog park and a section of the Colorado River that are open to public use. However, fishing on the Colorado River at Granby Trails is subject to a separate condition: it is only permitted with an advance reservation through the Town. As the reservation requirement may change, please check with the Town before your trip. Public use of the river section and the reservation requirement for fishing are separate conditions.
At the northern end of the Granby Trails, Fishing & Dog Park property is a 743-acre conservation easement. The area provides habitat for deer, elk, pronghorn, and bald eagles; moose and river otters are occasional visitors. The protected area and its wildlife are also part of the nature-focused experience around Granby Trails. The occasional presence of moose and river otters is distinct from the other species listed.
Cycling Trails and Other Activities
The Fraser-to-Granby Trail has access points along Highway 40 between Granby and Fraser. For its final few miles, the trail follows a smooth bike path into Granby. Kaibab Park connects to the Fraser-to-Granby Trail. These are distinct details to help you find your way: the park connection, the location of the access points, and the bike path route on the final miles into Granby.
Granby Ranch has more than 30 miles of downhill mountain bike trails. This is a different cycling option from the smooth bike path that follows the final miles of the Fraser-to-Granby Trail into Granby: here, the focus is on downhill trails and their total length, while the other refers to a section of the trail. Granby Ranch also has an 18-hole championship mountain golf course. Along with skiing, these offer a range of named activities that you can prioritize according to your interests when planning your trip.
