Nature
The lakeside landscape includes the Horn peninsula, the Lake Zurich island of Schönenwirt and the moraine landscape in the Richterswil hills. Wildspitz is located near Richterswil; Bögliegg is situated in the surrounding area. Auenberg and Farenstock are located in the wider regional area.
A completed lakeside path runs between Wädenswil and Richterswil. The best-known viewpoint near Burghalden railway station is called Gottfried-Keller-Plätzli.
Geographical classification
Richterswil is a municipality in the Horgen District in the canton of Zurich, Switzerland. The town is connected to the networks of the Swiss Federal Railways and the Swiss Southeastern Railway.
Culture
Schönenwirt is one of the four natural islands in Lake Zurich. The municipality of Richterswil purchased the island in 1848; the historical deed of sale is kept in the municipal archives. The Swiss National Museum is located in the wider regional area of Richterswil. Muotathal Abbey is also located in this wider regional area.
