Another option is the Hinwil–Wernetshausen–Hinwil circular hike: it is 8.1 kilometres long, takes about three hours, has a T1 difficulty rating and is indicated for the season from March to November.
Nature and Geopath
The geopath on the Bachtel begins, among other places, at Wernetshausen schoolhouse and passes nine informative educational panels on the way to Bachtel Kulm. With these informative panels, the geopath explains the history of the formation of the ZĂĽrcher Oberland landscape.
The Bachtelspalt fissure was created during the severe thunderstorm of 25 August 1939. A yellow hiking sign and arrows make the Bachtelspalt easy to find. The Kraftstein is also located along a route: from the Wernetshausen Dorf bus stop, it can be reached in around 20 minutes. The erratic boulder served as a pilgrimage destination.

History and Culture
Bernegg Castle ruins were built in the 13th century as a clearing castle and are under the protection of the Swiss Confederation. On the outskirts of Wernetshausen, the Looren Translators’ House offers professional literary translators work residencies.
Looren OpenAir is also part of the local cultural scene. The Looren OpenAir association organises a three-day open-air festival every year on a cow pasture at the Looren farm in Wernetshausen. In addition to music, the programme includes other art forms.
