History
Glion has been documented since 1693 and developed from a rural farming community into a significant spa resort in the 19th century. Its location and the Chauderon Gorge contributed to Glion’s role as a tourist destination in the 19th century.
Transport connections
The Territet–Glion funicular railway was built in 1883. The Montreux–Glion–Rochers-de-Naye rack railway was completed between 1892 and 1909. Both developments were connected with improved access to Glion.
