Location and Landscape
The surroundings of Miège include Zènèvrec, Mont Bonvin, Sex Mort, Lämmerenhorn, and Mittelgipfel. The Raspille stream forms Miège’s natural border with Salgesch to the east and also runs along the German-French language border.
History
Miège was first documented in 1226 under the name Mieio. Evidence of human presence around Miège includes graves from the Iron Age and the Early Middle Ages. In the 12th century, Miège was under the episcopal rule of Sierre.
