Geographical setting

Terre di Pedemonte is located in Ticino between the Onsernone Valley, Valle Cannobina, Locarno and the Piano di Magadino. To the west, the geographical area continues into Valle Vigezzo. Verscio covers an area of 3.76 square kilometres. Formerly an independent political municipality, Verscio merged with Tegna and Cavigliano to form the municipality of Terre di Pedemonte on 14 April 2013.

The parish church of San Fedele in Verscio features Romanesque and late Baroque architectural elements; its consecration is recorded as having taken place in 1214.

Transport

The wider Terre di Pedemonte and Centovalli region is served by the narrow-gauge railway connection from Locarno via Camedo to Domodossola. On the Swiss section, it is known as the Centovallina and is operated by FART.
