Losone lies on the banks of the Maggia and Melezza rivers. Above the village center are the Parco del bosco di Maia nature reserve and the alpine settlements of Monti di Losone. Below the Corona di Pinz viewpoint, located at an altitude of 1,293 meters, stretches a steep, forested mountain area.

History and Culture
Archaeological evidence indicates that the area of Losone has been inhabited since the Neolithic period. Graves dating from the 1st to the 4th century point to an ancient necropolis; the area was inhabited during Roman times.
In the wider regional surroundings of Losone are Castello Sasso Corbaro, the Bellinzona monastery, and Palazzo Flaim. The coat of arms of Losone refers to an ancient tower that was built in the 15th century and was part of Locarno's defense system.
