Boudevilliers: Hotels and Accommodations

History

Boudevilliers is home to a church dedicated to Saint James. In the Boudevilliers cemetery, there is a memorial to the soldiers of the Armée de l’Est who died in Landeyeux in 1871. The Boudevilliers school building was constructed between 1890 and 1892 by Jean Béguin. A fountain dating from 1740 bears the names of governors David Jeanberthoud and Jonas-Pierre Guyot.

In the hamlet of Malvilliers stands the house of Samuel-Henri Guyot, dating from 1848. The foundations of a semicircular apse were uncovered beneath the choir of the Temple de Boudevilliers; this suggests that the church has Romanesque origins.

The geologist, geographer and meteorologist Arnold Henri Guyot was born in Boudevilliers in 1807. The “blé rouge de Cernier” was a distinct local wheat variety that is now extinct.

Nature

One of Boudevilliers’ attractions is the descent along the Ruz d’Amont to La Borcarderie. The Grandes Pradières pasture lies on the mountain above Boudevilliers.

The Malvilliers–Boudevilliers educational trail is divided into 16 stages and covers geological, historical and ethnological topics, as well as forestry and agriculture. The trail is not signposted; a Val-de-Ruz map at a scale of 1:25,000 is recommended for orientation. It is considered quite demanding, and good hiking shoes are recommended in wet weather.

Cycling

The Boudevilliers pump track features 180-meter-long lanes for cycling enthusiasts of all experience levels.

Events

Malabar City is a village festival in Val-de-Ruz that transports visitors to a Wild West village every two years. During Malabar City, Rue du Collège is transformed for the occasion into a Wild West village with a corresponding Western setting and atmosphere.
