Cavardiras is situated on a long, narrow cleared terrace high above the upper Rhine Valley. The village is listed in the Federal Inventory of Swiss Heritage Sites of National Significance. Its practically undeveloped landscape, its visual impact from afar, and its well-preserved farmhouses and barn stables are the decisive factors.

Culture

In 1662, a chapel dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua was built in Cavardiras; it was replaced shortly afterwards by a Baroque church. The branch church of St. Anthony of Padua is a slender Baroque hall church with pilaster-strip articulation. It stands prominently on a small rise at the edge of the terrace on the valley side and is visible from far away.
