Mastrils lies on the left bank of the Rhine, opposite the mouth of the Landquart. Those who have chosen Mastrils as their destination may want to book a hotel.

Nature and Settlement Pattern

The settlement extends from the Rhine at the foot of the slope up towards the ridge of the Calanda massif. This area includes the peaks Zweienchopf, Chimmispitz and Pizalun. Mastrils has scattered hillside settlements rather than a single compact village centre; the hamlet of Isla lies directly on the Rhine.

The area surrounding Mastrils includes Schnielskopf, Chur Animal and Leisure Park, Tagweidlichopf, Lida and Haldensteiner Calanda.

Hiking

A challenging hiking route leads from Mastrils Tretsch via Jägeri and Pizalun to Furggels and Pfäfers Dorf. Access to the hike is by train to Landquart, followed by a bus from Landquart to Mastrils Tretsch.

The Church of St Anthony is considered a local landmark; the endpoint of the Mastrils Tretsch trail lies above the church.

Winter

Mastrils has a ski lift; it is regarded as a child-friendly ski area in the Bündner Rheintal.

Culture and Excursion Destinations

The Falkenstein ruins are located in the immediate vicinity of Mastrils. Further afield in the region are the Stamp Museum and the Buchs Birds of Prey Park.
