Culture and history
Until December 31, 2014, Alvaschein was an independent political municipality. On January 1, 2015, the village joined the municipality of Albula/Alvra through a merger with several neighboring municipalities. The Romansh name Alvaschagn is also associated with Alvaschein.
During the Reformation, Alvaschein was one of the canton’s municipalities that remained faithful to the “old faith.”
