Tandådalen – Skiing, Cross-Country Skiing and Winter Experiences
Accommodation in Tandådalen
Tandådalen combines several clearly distinct winter offerings: The ski area consists of Östra Tandådalen and the area around Tandådalstorget. In addition, there is a 2.7 km illuminated trail, a Snow Park with various levels, family-friendly ski slopes and trails leading into the Norra Transtrandsfjällen nature reserve. When choosing your accommodation, it is therefore particularly important to consider which focus matters most for your stay.
Skiing and Snowboarding in Tandådalen
The SkiStar Snow Park Tandådalen is located in Östra Tandådalen. It is considered the largest snow park in SkiStar Sälen and offers rails, boxes and jumps at several levels. This means that both experienced park riders and visitors with different levels of prior experience will find a clearly structured selection of features. In the area around Tandådalstorget is Valles skidland. There are drag lifts, a magic carpet and family-friendly ski slopes. There is also a playground nearby.
The ski school in Tandådalen offers group lessons and ski courses with a guide for children, teenagers and adults at various levels. The meeting point for participants is at the bottom station of the Skidskoleliften (T8). This specific landmark is particularly helpful when several people in a group are attending different courses. T-bar lifts connect Tandådalen with Hundfjället, so Tandådalen is not limited to the offerings within its own two areas.
Cross-Country Skiing with Short and Longer Routes
The Cross-Country Arena Tandådalen is available for both classic and skate skiing. It offers a 2.7 km illuminated trail, whose orange route starts at Grå byn. Those looking for a longer route with a gentle level of difficulty can choose Kalven runt: The trail is 11 km long, runs through hilly terrain and starts at the cross-country skiing centre in the centre of Tandådalen. Pulsen, on the other hand, is a very easy 3 km cross-country ski trail starting in Östra Tandådalen.
These differences help you adapt your cross-country skiing plans to the desired trail length and level of difficulty, without making the alpine ski area the only criterion.
Nature Experiences and Orientation on Site
Connecting trails lead from Tandådalen into the Norra Transtrandsfjällen nature reserve. The area is used, among other things, for dog-sledding tours and snowmobile safaris, thereby offering documented winter activities away from the ski slopes. The eastern part of Tandådalen is also characterised by an open landscape.
The Lill-Närfjällsleden provides another point of reference. Access begins by parking at Hemköp in Tandådalen; the route is marked with red crosses. If you would like to combine your stay with a look at the development of the area, the construction of the mountain road in the late 1950s opened up opportunities for Tandådalen's lift facilities.
