Discover Nå: Cider Farms, Farm History and Reisete
Accommodation in Nå
Nå can be considered for a stay based on several specific interests: cider and farm history, a meal at Siderhuset Ola K, or an outing to Reisete. If you are looking for accommodation in Nå, it helps to decide first which of these activities you want to shape your stay. The offerings also differ in their conditions: cider tastings are seasonal or require booking, while the view at Reisete depends on the weather.
Farm History and Agriculture
The Siderhuset Ola K building dates back to 1912. It opened as a general store and was a local meeting place for trade, postal services and community life. The house’s history is therefore connected not only with the sale of goods, but also with everyday life in the area. Eirik Nå Aga’s ancestors farmed the land from 1724; the farm of Store Naa Siderkompani is part of this history. Together, these places offer insights into different aspects of Nå’s history.
Cider, Farm Shops and Tastings
Store Naa Siderkompani is a family-run farm in Nå that produces cider and apple juice. It uses apples as well as other ingredients grown on the farm, including black and red currants. The farm shop sells fruit products year-round; check the arrangements and opening hours in advance.
From May to September, the farm offers two cider tastings daily. The approximately one-hour tasting includes a walk through the orchard, storytelling and light snacks. As this is a seasonal offering, it is advisable to confirm the arrangements for your planned visit. In the Siderbygda Vikebygd (Nå), visitors can take part in one or two cider tastings. Edel sider from Åkre Gard also offers tastings; bookings are made through the individual farms.
In the Siderbygda Vikebygd (Nå), you can also walk between the farms and visit farm shops. Check access arrangements for each farm before your visit. This lets you plan tastings and farm shops as separate parts of an outing, without treating the offerings of different farms as if they were the same.
Meals at Siderhuset Ola K
Siderhuset Ola K serves a two-course lunch or a three-course dinner made with locally available ingredients. The menus depend on the ingredients available and may therefore vary. On request, Siderhuset Ola K offers cider and/or wine tastings with a sommelier and a pommelier. If you plan to attend such a tasting, confirm the booking and availability directly.
Reisete, the Beach and the Local Landscape
From Nå, drive to Reisete and continue on foot up stone steps. At the highest point of the ascent, weather permitting, you can enjoy a view towards Hardangervidda. Both the drive and the subsequent walk are part of this outing; visibility of the plateau depends on the weather.
One of Nå’s local features is an artificial beach. A swim in the fjord at Nå-stranda is also recommended as an option; check local conditions and facilities. The Stone Park displays various types of rock. Nå also has a former ferry landing, which should be understood as a historic facility.
Getting Here and Ullensvang
Nå is 22 kilometres from Odda and can be reached via Fylkesvei 550. This gives you a point of reference for your journey, while the outing to Reisete also involves switching from car to foot.
The wider destination of Ullensvang has other independent attractions. Dronningstien is a challenging hike between Kinsarvik and Lofthus, described as 16 kilometres long and taking six to nine hours. Agatunet at Aga on the Sørfjorden is a protected cluster of farm buildings. The oldest building, Lagmannsstova, dates from 1220; guided tours and exhibitions on art and cultural history are offered there. Tour and exhibition times may vary.
