Winter Sports in Abetone
The Abetone Val di Luce ski area has 50 km of slopes and 17 lifts. These include chairlifts, drag lifts, cable cars and conveyor belts. The Pista del Maiori begins 200 metres from Piazza dell’Abetone and is suitable for both classic technique and skating, as well as snowshoeing. Lifts overcome differences in elevation between lower and higher areas and differ according to their design and transport principle.
Cross-Country Skiing and E-Bike Route
The cross-country circuits of Abetone Gravity Park begin at the base of the cable car and are between 5 and 30 km long. Cross-country skiing is the usual English term for Langlauf. In the classic technique, the skis follow a parallel tracked line, while skating is performed with a sideways gliding movement. Snowshoes increase the surface area when walking in snow.
The Abetone–Lago Nero–Abetone e-bike route is 18 km long, takes around 3 hours and has a medium difficulty level. An e-bike route uses a bicycle with electric pedal assistance.

The Piramidi dell’Abetone monument stands in the centre of Abetone at an elevation of 1,375 metres. The Piramidi dell’Abetone were erected to commemorate the opening of the Abetone Pass and visibly marked the historic border between Tuscany and the Duchy of Modena.
The Museo dello Sci di Abetone can be visited during the 2026 season from 2 July to 31 August, Tuesdays to Sundays from 5 to 7 p.m.
