Roburent: Ski Slopes, Bike Routes and History

Altitude and Historic Centre

Roburent lies at an altitude of 800 metres on a broad ridge between the Corsaglia and Casotto valleys. The fortified complex in Roburent dates back to the 11th century. The surviving round tower of the complex is called “La Saracena” and became a landmark of Roburent because of its elevated position.

Routes on Monte Savino and in Prà

The route from Roburent to Monte Savino via San Bernardo begins behind the parish church of Roburent and ends on Monte Savino, at an altitude of 1,089 metres. From the summit of Monte Savino, views extend to the Ligurian Alps and parts of the Mondovì plain. The “Anello della Navonera” circular route is considered a classic mountain bike route and can also be completed on foot. The “Forni del Monte Alpet” route begins and ends in Prà di Roburent and is 7,610 metres long. It passes through small hamlets, each of which has a restored communal oven. There is a car park for the “Forni del Monte Alpet” route in Prà di Roburent. At Case Rosa, you can take a close look at the traditional roof construction technique known as “tetto racchiuso”.

Mountain Bike Activities at Cardini

The Monte Alpet Bike Village in Cardini, Roburent, is set in a natural environment and offers activities for sports enthusiasts and families with children. On site, there is a bike workshop, downhill, freeride and e-bike rental, protective equipment rental and a bike wash station. The Monte Alpet Bike Village also offers five trails with increasing levels of difficulty.

Skiing and Snowshoeing Activities

Sangiacomo Cardini Ski has 35 kilometres of slopes. The slopes begin at the facilities near the hamlet of San Giacomo di Roburent and in the village of Cardini. The lifts of Sangiacomo Cardini Ski connect the village, at an altitude of 1,011 metres, with Monte Alpet, at 1,611 metres. In the Sangiacomo Cardini area, numerous snowshoe routes can be explored independently or with a guide. Snowshoe routes are paths covered in snow that are traversed using special footwear.

Church in San Giacomo, History in Prà

The church in the hamlet of San Giacomo was built in the mid-18th century in the Piedmontese Baroque style. The hamlet of Prà preserves evidence of the Salt War. The final clashes of the conflict took place there on 8 March 1699; many farmhouses were destroyed by fires during these clashes. The rock above Prà is still called “Rocca dei morti” today, in remembrance of the Salt War.

Events in San Giacomo and Roburent

The international puppet theatre festival “Sangiacomo in Festival” will take place in San Giacomo di Roburent from 26 July to 2 August 2026. The festival is organised by the Istituto Italiano della Marionetta. In Roburent, the cultural association “Savin” organises the literary competition “La quercia del Myr”, which is open to Italian and international authors.
