For a trip to Mór, culture and wine can be considered as two distinct focal points. Lamberg Castle combines architectural history with several exhibition themes; two wineries offer wine tastings and complement them with different experiences. When looking for hotels in Mór, you can consider which experiences you would like to focus on during your stay. The following places differ both in their themes and in the types of experiences they offer.

Lamberg Castle: Architectural History and Exhibitions

Lamberg Castle in Mór was designed by Jakab Fellner. Count Ferenc Antal Lamberg had it built between 1762 and 1766 as the Lamberg family’s summer residence. The design, construction period and intended purpose give the castle’s history a specific timeframe. The exhibitions in the castle have their own thematic focus: they range from memories of the lives of the German population who settled in Mór to screen prints by an internationally renowned artist.

The Swabian House in Lamberg Castle is devoted to the lives of this German population. On display are furniture and household items from the early 20th century, traditional costumes, prayer books and other religious memorabilia. The different objects give you several ways to explore the exhibition: furniture and everyday items sit alongside clothing and religious objects. In this way, the Swabian House brings together aspects of everyday life and memorabilia with a religious connection.

Another focus can be found in Lamberg Castle’s Vasarely Hall, where screen prints by Victor Vasarely are on display. If you would like to include a range of exhibition themes in your travel plans, the castle offers more than a single historical perspective. The Swabian House explores the lives of the German population who settled in Mór; the Vasarely Hall focuses on the works of a particular artist. This distinction helps you understand the themes of the two exhibitions in advance.

Wine Tastings and Other Experiences

Miklóscsabi Pincéje is located in downtown Mór, at Ezerjó utca 3. Wine tastings and smaller wine dinners are offered there to visitors. The combination of a tasting and dinner distinguishes this experience from a visit focused on touring a cellar. If you would like to plan a wine tasting or wine dinner, confirm the details with the winery.

Frey Pincészet offers cellar tours and wine tastings in its listed cellar along Mór’s historic cellar row. A cold meal served on a farmhouse platter is available on request. Here, the cellar is part of the experience as well as the tasting; the cold meal is an additional option, not something to expect as part of every visit. Check the details with the winery in advance if you would like to include this visit in your plans.

The differences between the two wine experiences are specific: Miklóscsabi Pincéje pairs wine tastings with smaller wine dinners and is located downtown; Frey Pincészet offers a cellar tour and wine tasting in its listed cellar, with cold dishes available on request. Both wineries offer a way to discover wine experiences in Mór, but each has a different focus.
