Nature
The Eckfeld Maar was formed around 44 million years ago during an early phase of Eifel volcanism.

Independent digging is prohibited at the Eckfeld dry maar; the area has been protected since 1988.
Visitors are advised to park at the Eckfeld sports field and walk the short distance to the excavation site of the Eckfeld dry maar.

Trails
The Maare-Moselle Cycle Route runs directly past Eckfeld.
The 74-kilometre Lieser Trail connects the Eifel with the Moselle.
History
The tower of Eckfeld Church was built around 1450.
St. Catherine’s was initially built in the 1450s as an extension of Eckfeld’s fortified tower. After a fire, the church was rebuilt in the 19th century. The west tower of St. Catherine’s dates from the second half of the 15th century and was originally fortified.
Culture
Eckfeld offers creative seminars in the former village school. Participants work with wood and natural stone, with guidance ranging from basic instruction in craftsmanship to support with artistic design.
